Cosmetic Surgery Recuperation

General Information

Having facelifts, breast implants, tummy tucks or a Chirurgia del naso will give you a variety of emotions. First you will be glad when it is done, and more so you will be eager to see the result of your operation, especially after you spent quite a big sum of money for it. But undergoing the process of body and beauty enhancement isn't that all that matters. Cosmetic surgery recuperation is important as well, and individuals must observe this course of action vigilantly.
Recuperation is synonymous to recovery. It is a time of healing, and a time of regaining strength. After any surgical procedure, whether minor or major operation, a person must comply with the demands of his body during the recovery phase, so that future complications will be avoided.
The convalescence period after any aesthetic procedure involves five important tasks. And doing these tasks will lead to a more rapid pain relief and shorter time of tissue healing.

  1. Check-up. Right after the cosmetic surgical procedure, the surgeon would usually advise for a post-operative check-up after one to two days, or after a week to reassess the operation site. The client must adhere to this request by the physician so that further questions and symptoms will be given due attention.
  2. Rest. This is so far the most important factor to observe after any operation, especially if the procedure entailed the use of general anesthesia. The body also lost much of its strength and energy to compensate its demands during the operation. It is important to relax; especially right after the procedure to let the body cope with with its normal functions. For more relaxing experience, the person can visit places like the beautiful parks and beaches of Rio de Janeiro, that will give a calming atmosphere.
  3. Medication. Upon discharge from the operating room or clinics, doctors usually prescribe antibiotics or pain killer drugs to their clients. It is important that the patient should comply with the prescribed drugs, dosage and schedule to take the medications, and to avoid self-medication or over-medication. Otherwise, some health impediments may occur.
  4. Diet. Another vital aspect to consider is the food to take right after the cosmetic surgery. But it depends on the site and the extent of the procedure done, that some surgeons may require for a fasting period of one day for intensive ones. But for the most common diet program right after any operation is the inclusion of a high fiber diet and increase in oral fluid intake to mobilize the bowel that was stationary for quite sometime when on general anesthesia, and high protein diet to facilitate tissue healing.
  5. Avoid tasks. It is advisable to reduce straining the body by engaging on stressful activities, especially when under the recovery phase. Heavy lifting or running should also be shunned for a while. But some doctors may advise to do some simple tasks like walking, writing poetry, and other non-heavy chores.
Observing these five important and basic steps during the cosmetic surgery recuperation period will ensure the client that the operation done was safe, and further problems that can arise due to poor compliance of the recommended recovery tasks will be avoided.
